On 02/01/2014 the Statesboro Police Department arrested a suspect for armed robbery, burglary and sexual assault.  Charles Clifton, 50 year old male, made forced entry into a residence on Morris Street armed with a knife.  Clifton confronted the resident, a 61 year old female, and assaulted her.  During the assault she received a minor injury to her finger.  Clifton then took multiple items from the residence and fled the area.

The victim ran to a neighbor’s home and contacted the police.  Officers arrived and secured the scene.  Statesboro Officer Casey Tomlinson located Clifton hiding behind a residence on Roundtree Street.  Officer Tomlinson arrested Clifton who is now being held at the Bulloch County Jail awaiting further court action.  He is being charged by Statesboro Police Department with multiple crimes and is also a wanted person out of Atlanta for failure to report as a sex offender.
